Our Mission

A Home, Not Just
a Shelter

Adhar Vrudhashram is a family. We provide round-the-clock care for elderly persons who have been abandoned, disabled, blind, chronically ill, or who simply have no one left in the world. We serve without discrimination — every elder who comes to our door is welcomed with equal love and dignity.

⭐ Founder & Director
Ganesh Dongaonkar
Jivan Aadhar Sevabhavi Pratishthan · Est. 2012

Ganesh Dongaonkar started in 2012 with almost nothing — no funding, no building, no government support. Just a deep conviction that abandoned grandparents deserved better. Today, he personally oversees care of 30+ elders and continues to rescue elders found abandoned on roadsides, temples, and train stations.

His work has been featured in Lokmat, recognised by AASTHA Foundation, and supported by Lions Club Aurangabad. Yet he continues to say: "We don't do this for awards. We do it because every grandmother deserves a warm meal tonight."

Our Journey

How It All Began

2012
The First Step
Ganesh Dongaonkar opens a small rented room to care for 3 abandoned elders with no bank account, no committee, no funding — just conviction and compassion.
2013
Growing the Family
Word spreads. More elders arrive. Local citizens begin contributing food, medicines, and funds. The ashram grows to 10 residents.
2015
Official Registration
Jivan Aadhar Sevabhavi Pratishthan registered (Reg. 1025/2015). 80G tax exemption certificate obtained — donations now eligible for 50% tax deduction.
2018
New Building
With community support, the ashram moves to a larger facility near Renuka Mata Kaman, Ch. Sambhajinagar, housing 30+ elders with dedicated medical care.
2023
Media Recognition
Lokmat publishes front-page feature on Sundabai's rescue. Lions Club donates medical equipment. Ganesh honoured at AASTHA 18th Foundation Day.
2025
12 Years Strong
52 elders have passed away with dignity in our care. 100+ reunited with families. 30+ currently reside with us. Still zero government aid. Still going.
